Hi Everyone! Glad to be back this week to start sharing some projects from CHA. This first project was made using a Vignette Box. The package comes with 4 nested boxes which get shallower as they get smaller. I used the second from the left (3 3/8 x 4 3/4 x 1 5/16").
I started by gathering some of my favorite things...some old and some new!
I added one of the smaller Cabinet Card Frames to the back of the box. As you can see, I used the "back" of the Cabinet Card to show the beautiful gold writing.
I also cut out a Found Relative (from the Occasions pack) for the centerpiece. Once she was cut out, I added a few small pieces of paper to her dress and the bow in her hair (compare to the picture above).
I used a piece of linen from the new Textile Surfaces pack on the bottom of the box. The linen is thin and self adhesive - super easy to die cut or add to a surface.
I also added a piece of ledger from the French Industrial Paper Stash to the bottom.
You know me, never afraid to drill a hole in a box. This time I put a
hole at the top of the box for the Faucet Knob (painted with Weathered Wood + Mushroom Alcohol Ink).
At the bottom, a
larger hole, in which I inserted and old finial I purchased for .50 cents at a
local antique shop. The finial was already painted black so I painted
the box to match using Distress Paint Black Soot. I used some wood glue to secure the finial to the box.
The large Quote Band (another new must have) was alcohol inked with Gold and Mushroom. Once dry, I colored the letters using the white Distress Crayon. So much easier than paint!!
I tied the Quote Band on with Crinkle Ribbon (colored with Weathered Wood and Broken China Distress Stain). A Mini Plaquette was added to the background with two mini fasteners.
I thought you might like to see a comparison between the old Plaquettes and the new Mini. Super cute for lots of small projects or cards.
I hope you liked today's project! I think once the Vignette Boxes reach stores next month we will be seeing lots of fun ideas! So put your thinking caps on! Only a couple more weeks!
now carry on,
paula
