Distress Paint Follow up

I'm back with you today to answer three questions that were posed in the comments.  Enjoy!

1.  Can Black Soot look like a chalkboard?
The answer is YES.

I painted the tag using the dapper top, then spritzed it with water.  The Distress paint will wick and all brush marks from the dapper top will disappear.  Once the tag looked good to me I dried it with the Heat it tool.  Once dry, the paint has a matte finish that really does resemble a chalkboard.

I used Picket Fence Distress Paint to stamp the typewriter using the same method I used on tag #3 with the chicken wire.  Again, you must clean your stamp right after use.

I think it came out perfect with very little effort and it really does give you the chalkboard look.

 2.  Can you use a lighter color Distress Paint for the resist technique?
YES you can use a lighter color for the resist technique.

I chose Broken China to color the tag this time...much lighter than black!
Then I used a combination of Wild Honey, Spun Sugar and Tumbled Glass Distress Stain and water over the top.  As you can see, the stain only colored the raw tag.  By the way, the picture does not do the tag justice as the three colors of stain are beautiful together.

I decided to quickly finish this one out with my favorite butterfly stamps from the Papillon set, Vintage Photo Distress ink around the edges and a few words from the Remnant words.

3.  The last question was about fabric.  Will the paint stamp on fabric?  The answer is yes.

I chose Barn Door Distress Paint and two stamps Simple Sayings and (appropriate for this week), the cupid from the Blueprint Valentine set.

I dabbed paint on the stamp image using the dabber top (just like the typewriter) and stamped directly on the dyed muslin.  It stamped beautifully on the first try.  I dried it with my Heat it tool, then set it with my iron for good measure.  I went to the sink, got it wet, scrubbed it together for a bit and nothing changed...paint stayed just as I had stamped it.

I only stamped with the paint but I see no reason that one could not use it right from the dapper tip, with a paint brush or thinned out and used as water colors.

NOTE: I believe that once the paint is dry it is permanent so I didn't need to set it with the iron, that was just me being cautious.
My piece of muslin was large enough to make a little treat bag.
I used a couple numbers from the Remnant Rub - Numbers for a small tag.
Then added some chocolate to the bag and closed it with a Wire Pin.
Well, that is the end of my series on Distress Paint.  I know I will be using it in the future so this really isn't the end.  A big thank you to everyone who has been so supportive through this series by leaving kind messages in the comments...you are all so very nice.

Cheers for a great week!
