I spent the evening with friends at our local antiques show, Remnants of the Past. This year Judy decided to have a 3 hour preview night before the show starts tomorrow morning which was wonderful since there was only a 1/4 of the people that will be at the show during the weekend.
We had a fabulous time shopping the show, talking to friends, and really just soaking in the beauty.
I am not going to comment too much here. Just wanted to share the vision of the evening. Of course I am going back in the morning for one more go round since it's not too often I get to drive 30 minutes up the road to a great show.

Junk Girls
Do you not love this hand painted background on plain kraft wrapping paper? This design was repeated on all the walls of the booth and it was just fabulous. This new booth is a great addition to the show and I am hoping she will return.

ReplyDeleteWhat awesome displays! And to think they were 'in your backyard'! I could sit and drool over your pics for hours. So many clever and useful ideas for items destined for the garbage heap because they're no longer pretty or functional.

ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, what I wouldn't give to shop there. I would have probably spent wayyyyyyy tooooo much money. Everything is amazing and the way it is all staged is pure eye candy.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Tinsel Trading and I have several spools of vintage metallic thread from there. My in-laws live in Manhattan so I am able to shop there when I visit. I've never had the privilege of meeting Wendy, but i have some of her items from Tinsel Trading.
On one visit to the store Marcia- the owner- was working with someone who had to be a designer- he was super eccentric. He was shopping for vintage metallic fabrics that were hundreds of dollars a yard. He had his muse with him and they were talking dresses and red carpet. Marcia was nervous- or at least really really wanted to make him happy and she couldn't find the supplies she needed. It was fascinating to watch and I really wanted go over and say "excuse me, but can you tell me what is going on?" I'm so nosy.
Like Disneyland for crafters, because you can't see it all in one day, what fun. Love the salt & pepper shakers as chess pieces.

This is SOOOO inspiring! I used to love it when Baltimore had all the big department stores downtown and you could walk past all the decorated windows. Christmas was always special because they went all out on the displays. When I sell my work at craft shows, usally I am busy up the last minute making things, and don't do anything special with my booth. Maybe I'll try something more crafty with it now!!!

Wendy, The show was in San Luis Obispo, CA at the Madonna Inn property...a bit of a drive for you but you could always stay the weekend. Plenty to do around here.
