Home Again

We are back into the swing of things.  What a great few days we had!  Who knew you could have that much fun and still be working?!  Paula flew into Phoenix and then a short road trip up to Prescott.  Before we left town we stopped at Design Lab in Mesa.  Paula wanted to check it out since she hadn't been there before.  I certainly didn't have a problem with that.....love that store....here are a few things we saw -
Love this poster, you can buy rolled up and frame yourself.

great wooden pins with numbers

Cool light from School House Electric

of course the "get inspired" bulletin board....you have to go and study it

love these!

We are happy to leave the valley and find some cooler temperatures as it's been hovering around 115 degrees here the past couple of weeks.  When we arrive we dig right into the business part of our trip.  There was lots to cover in a short amount of time, but we managed to make it through the list and get all that we needed to get done over several days.  It was a pleasure working with Rana and Tracey from Advantus, those ladies know their stuff and how to get things done!

I can tell you one thing.....food is a VERY important part of the creative process!  We enjoyed some fabulous food including italian at Rosa's Pizzeria, mexican at Tito's and a burger and fries at Five Guys.  It was at the latter that we found out just how much Tim and Mario like their ketchup!
Paula's ketchup on the left, Mario's ketchup on the right!

All the food was so good, but the absolute best were the home cooked meals by Mario.  Sorry, no photos to share...but, that guy can cook!!  THANKS MARIO....and we need recipes!

Visiting Tim's house was a treat.  It is a warm and cozy home nestled a semi-rural area.

Inside, his home is a visual FEAST!  High ledges around the living areas are packed with the coolest antiques and found objects.  You have to spend some serious time looking at everything to appreciate all his fun finds.  I especially love the fact that every item has a story behind it...and I'm talking some really great displays!

Entry way....

entry - loved the chalkboard and school desk display....

Great subway sign....

Fun music display, but the Whistler's Mother on the wall was so good!

love the ladder....

Here's a snippet of the ledges I was talking about....oh, and Tim loves large clocks...this was my favorite.

Tim's Studio -

I know...it was hard to concentrate on the meeting, so much stuff to look at!

Great paintbrush collection.
On a side note, Tim's studio is EXTREMELY organized.
He has a LOT of stuff and can find anything very quickly....amazing!

Speaking of amazing...

Our last day Tim showed us some of his favorite places to antique in historic downtown Prescott.

It was so nice to be able to walk around outside without melting.

Fun, fun....

What do you think....we could wear them next CHA in the booth!

We each found a treasure to take home....it was a great morning!
The rest of the day was filled with our own personal demonstration of Tim's product lines...I know, people would pay for that.
Then Tim wanted us to have some product to have on hand... we had plenty to take home.

Paula brought an empty suitcase....it went home very full!

It was a wonderful trip.  We really did work and accomplished lots, but still loads of fun....
Thanks Tim and Mario for a great time!

  2. Thank you for sharing the visual delights at Tim's! I've always wondered how many incredible treasures he had and I can't even imagine how wonderful it was to see everything :) I love Prescott - we drive up from the Valley several times during the summers to escape the 100-teens degree heat! And there's no better place to escape to than the amazing antique stores in Prescott!

  13. OK, being that I am a big Lord of the Rings Dork, I gotta know-what was the goodie that the tag under the "Cool light from School House Electric" referred to? The tag is as clear as day in the picture....you are such teasers!

  14. Sounds like a dream trip! I have a question. What did you two bring home from the shops?

  15. Anne,
the "tag" is not really a tag at all. All the books on the wall were covered in heavy white paper with the stamp on the spine. Jen the store manager is the one with the fabulous writing. See more pictures here on our May 18th post on Design Lab - http://www.2gypsygirls.com/2012/05/places-to-go.html

  22. kara,

funny you asked because i just looked up on the map to see how far Ohio was from TX where my sister lives...a bit too far to drive I am afraid.
I have never been to one of the country living fairs but they seem great!
